So, the majority of us get excited about the substantial games we play beyond the conference, and others look forward to those huge conference events. But then there's the few that ruminate about January. I'll admit, I do it without fail.
Especially since I root for a team who hasn't been victorious in a bowl game since 2006, whereas up to that, they had been victorious in five consecutively. But I still stand devotedly next to them, and the Giant Ten Conference.
So what's bound to happen in the non-BCS bowls? I have no indication, I'll figure that out at some point this week or next. But as far as the BCS Bowl Games, here's what I believe is going to ensue, and how it might be kept from taking place.
ROSE BOWL presented by Citibank (Pasadena, California) Ohio State Buckeyes vs (at) Southern California Trojans This contest may effortlessly be averted. I expect USC to go down one game in the course of the season, as they usually do.
If they get past the Buckeyes on September 12, then they'll be okay. But look out for the Cal Bears. I still expect S.C. will win the Pac-ten, lately becoming known as the "Pac-1." The Buckeyes play the men of troy at home in September, where they'd much rather be than Pasadena, mere miles from the Los Angeles Coliseum. But look out for that November 7 matchup, in Happy Valley.
Needless to say, the last time the Bucks traveled there, they blew out the Lions 37-17. But they need a victory, especially if they lose to USC in September. If they may defeat the Trojans in September, and the Lions in November, they could be headed for the National Championship. And the same goes for USC.
Tostitos FIESTA BOWL Oklahoma Sooners vs Notre Dame Fighting Irish One occurrence might prevent this match, October 17. That signifies the date of the Red River Rivalry between Oklahoma and Texas.
The victor of that, which I clearly expect to be Texas, should basically coast to the National Title. Then again.. watch out for the Oklahoma St. Cowboys. Notre Dame's return to glory should start hitting large strides this year.
They have an extremely seasoned team, and a number thirteen preseason status. Assuming they lose to USC, but defeat their 84 other enemies (haha), they should earn a nice spot in the BCS at season's end.
BCS National Championship Game sponsored by Citi (Pasadena, California) the Florida Gators vs the University of Texas The University of Florida. Almost everybody picks them to make it to Pasadena on January 7th, led by one of the greatest athletes of our generation, Tim Tebow. They have a few difficulties in the course of the season.. but every person is anticipating their October ten showdown, at LSU. That and the Florida-Georgia game on Halloween are the principal difficulties for the Gators, as well as whomever they play against in the SEC Title.
