Buying a Television Like the Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10

By Kristine Dougherty

TVs have been around since for about sixty years and have been tremendously popular for around fifty. It is no surprise that people have put the tube at the peak of family entertainment and decided that, above all else, TV watching is paramount. The Television replaced the radio almost as soon as it came out, and movie studio executives had clandestine meetings to decide what they were going to do about the new threat. They thought that they were going to lose significant revenue to the sets. Back then there wasn't much choice when buying, but now Television buying is a whole new ball game.

The first thing to remember is that not all stores have the same price for their merchandise. Okay this is pretty silly to point out, but the main thing is to make sure and shop around. Don't just stop at the first good deal you find.

One of the best ways that you can do this is with a computer. TV buying can be fun if you sit in front of the computer screen for a few nights and dream about what you want in a set. Make sure and look at bargains, but also consider features. They may have it offered for less because it is a crappy set.

One thing you can also do with the computer is actually buy the Television . This may not be the best idea unless you are going to go to a store and actually pick up the merchandise. With this option you may get a better deal because a lot of times they will not make you aware of all the promotions that they have available at the store that they advertise boldly on the web. The problem with getting one shipped to you is the extra shipping and insurance cost that you are going to have to fork out. This may negate the deal that you were able to get in the first place.

When you are looking to buy it is best to be informed so that you can ask the salesman some intelligent questions. You want to have a few of the specs memorized and then act like you know what you are doing. The salesman will actually respect you more and probably give you better service as a result.

Another thing to realize is that they are going to try and sell you a warranty when you are TV buying. These are generally worthless and only make money for the store.

Make sure that you ask the sales person what type of deal that you can get in this set. Be willing to haggle a little bit. Usually there is at least a 15% mark up on big items in a store. It can save you money if you understand this.

Actually the final piece of advice is do not accept the ten percent off you will get when buying a Television like the Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10 if you open a credit card account. This is usually a big red flag, they do this because it is pure profit for them. Have fun and be a good consumer.
